Your participation in the Contemporary Dancers Balance Research Study will involve a single visit lasting approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes.

The first part of the session will be dedicated to familiarisation. During this time, you will complete a questionnaire, have some measurements taken, and have the opportunity to ask any questions or discuss any concerns you may have about the study procedures.

The second part of the session will involve performing a series of single-leg balance tasks in parallel and retiré position including:

  • Standing balance
  • Plié
  • Relevé

These tasks will be performed with both eyes open and eyes closed. You will also perform a single-leg jump (temps levé).

To collect neuromuscular data, small sensors similar to adhesive stickers will be placed on your legs. These sensors are non-invasive and painless. In some cases, a small area of skin may need to be shaved to ensure good contact between the sensors and the skin.

We hope to make your participation both enjoyable and valuable while contributing to this research project.
